How to Set Up the EarFun EH100 Hi-Fi Earphones: Cable, Nozzles, Fit and Source (5 Steps)

From the box to proper Hi-Fi sound, in five steps. Vertical version for phones

Wired in-ear monitors like the EarFun EH100 can sound remarkably good for the money, but only if a few small things are right: the cable seated properly, the nozzle that suits your taste, and above all a tight seal in your ear. Get any of those wrong and the same earphones sound thin and harsh. The EH100 is a hybrid design with two dynamic drivers and one balanced armature per side, a detachable cable and two swappable tuning nozzles. Here is how to set it up properly from the first listen.

What you need

  • The EarFun EH100 earphones and the detachable silver-plated cable from the box
  • The ear tips and the two tuning nozzles that come with them
  • A source with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, or a USB-C/Lightning to 3.5 mm adapter or a small DAC for phones without a jack
  • A few lossless or high-resolution tracks you know well

Step 1: Connect the 0.78 mm 2-pin cable

The EarFun EH100 0.78 mm 2-pin cable connector

The cable is detachable and uses the industry-standard 0.78 mm 2-pin connector. Match the left and right connectors to the left and right earpieces, line up the two pins with the sockets and press straight in until the plug sits flush. Do not wiggle it sideways, as bent pins are the most common way 2-pin cables get damaged. Because the connector is standard, you can later swap in a cable with a microphone, a Bluetooth adapter or an upgrade cable.

Step 2: Choose a tuning nozzle

The EH100 comes with two screw-on tuning nozzles. The Balanced nozzle (black silicone ring) gives the more neutral, even presentation; the Ambient nozzle (red silicone ring) shifts the tuning for a livelier, more spacious sound. Start with Balanced for a day, then switch and listen to the same tracks. Unscrew gently and keep the spare in the case, since the nozzles are small.

Step 3: Fit the tips and loop the ear hooks

A seal makes or breaks any IEM. Try the tips on and pick the size that blocks outside noise completely; when the seal is right, bass suddenly appears. The cable has pre-formed ear hooks: loop the cable over the top of your ear so it runs down behind it. With each earpiece weighing just 8.6 g and the shell shaped to sit in the ear, the fit stays stable for long sessions.

Step 4: Plug into your source

The 3.5 mm gold-plated plug goes straight into a laptop, audio player, amplifier or older phone. On phones without a headphone jack, use a USB-C or Lightning to 3.5 mm adapter, ideally one with a built-in DAC. With 103 dB sensitivity and a 16 Ω impedance, the EH100 is easy to drive, so you do not need a dedicated headphone amplifier. Start at a low volume and turn it up gradually.

Step 5: Play high-resolution files

The EarFun EH100 hybrid driver layout with two dynamic drivers and a balanced armature

The EH100 is certified Hi-Res Audio by the Japan Audio Society and covers 16 Hz to 40 kHz. Its two dynamic drivers (10 mm and 6.8 mm) handle the bass and midrange, while the balanced armature takes the highs. Feed it lossless or high-resolution files from a streaming service or your own library, turn off heavy EQ presets on your phone and give your ears a few listening sessions to settle on the nozzle you prefer.

Tip

If the sound is thin or bright, try a size larger tip before blaming the earphones or switching nozzles. Most of the time, a thin sound means a broken seal.

Bottom line: seat the 2-pin cable straight, start with the Balanced nozzle, get a proper seal with the tips and ear hooks, and feed the EH100 good files. Done in that order, these triple-driver earphones show what a wired hybrid IEM can do. Price checked live on myearfun.com (EU store) on November 2, 2026: €99.99, in stock.
