A plasma cutter blows compressed air through a narrow nozzle and turns it into an electric arc hot enough to cut any conductive metal: mild and stainless steel, aluminium, copper. It cuts faster and cleaner than a grinder and, unlike an oxy-fuel torch, needs no gas bottles, only electricity and an air compressor. VEVOR’s EU store had 8 plasma cutters and cutter-welder combos in stock on October 29, 2026, from 175,90 € to 471,90 €. The choice comes down to five things: how thick you cut (50, 60 or 65 A), how the arc starts (contact or non-touch pilot arc), the power you have (230 V single-phase or 400 V three-phase), whether you need a non-high-frequency model near electronics or a CNC table, and whether you want welding in the same box.

Sorted by price. Specs as listed by VEVOR; “not listed” means the page does not say. None of the eight pages lists a duty cycle (how many minutes out of ten it can cut at full current), so ask VEVOR or check the manual if you plan long cuts. Star ratings are not compared model by model: the six standalone cutters share one review pool (156 reviews, 3.7 out of 5, 23% one-star) and the two combos share another (62 reviews, 4.2 out of 5, 11% one-star).

Amps and cut thickness

Each listing gives two numbers. The clean cut is the thickness it cuts with a usable edge; the max cut (sometimes called sever cut) gets through, but slowly and with a rough edge you will grind. Buy for the clean-cut figure:

  • 50 A (CUT-50): 12 mm clean, 16 mm max. Car bodies, trailers, brackets, gates.
  • 65 A on 230 V (CUT-65): 14 mm clean on the high-frequency version and 16 mm on the non-HF version, 20 mm max on both. An Irish buyer of the 65 A pilot arc model has cut “lots of 2 and 3mm steel plate, which it cuts extremely fast and clean” and 12 mm plate “with absolutely no issues”.
  • 60 A on 400 V three-phase (CUT-60): the highest ratings here, 18 mm clean and 24 mm max. A Belgian buyer says it cuts 15 mm plate easily and neatly (our translation).
  • Combos: the 50 A cutting side of both combos is listed lower than the standalone 50 A, at 10 mm clean and 15 mm max.

Contact vs non-touch pilot arc

A contact cutter starts the arc when the torch tip touches the metal, so you drag the tip along the work. A non-touch pilot arc cutter keeps a small arc burning inside the torch, so it starts without touching and keeps cutting across gaps. VEVOR says its pilot arc “efficiently cuts through rough and rusty surfaces without direct contact with the metal”. In practice pilot arc matters most for rusty or painted scrap, expanded metal, mesh and grilles, and it saves nozzle wear. At 50 A, pilot arc costs 23,00 € more than contact; at 60 A three-phase, 43,00 € more (our arithmetic). For anything but occasional cuts on clean sheet, we would pay it.

High frequency or non-HF

Most cheap cutters start the arc with a burst of high frequency (HF), which can disturb nearby electronics. The non-HF CUT-65 uses “non-high frequency tech to eliminate electromagnetic interference”. That matters if you cut near computers, chargers or a CNC controller: asked whether the non-HF version can run on a CNC plasma table, VEVOR answered “Yes, the non-high-frequency plasma cutter can be used on a CNC plasma table.” It costs 70,00 € more than the HF CUT-65 (our arithmetic) and is listed with a higher clean cut (16 vs 14 mm). It has adjustable post-flow (PT) time but, unlike the others, no listed PA setting. VEVOR says the 60 A pilot arc three-phase model is high frequency, and the 3-in-1 combo’s cutting method is listed as “High-Frequency Contact Type”.

230 V or 400 V three-phase

Check your supply before you choose the amps.

  • 230 V models draw a lot. The CUT-50 lists 26 A input current and the CUT-65 lists 32 A. Asked about the breaker for the non-HF CUT-65, VEVOR answered “A 40A circuit breaker will suffice.” Many European household socket circuits are protected at 16 A, so at full output you may need a dedicated circuit; ask an electrician. A buyer in Romania (writing in English) had a weak supply on the first evening: he cut at 40 A, then 50 A the next morning, and found 65 A “imposibile” because his 220 V grid did not have the power.
  • Plugs. The CUT-50 and CUT-65 pages say “220V only. Power adapter not included”. For the 5-in-1 combo VEVOR answered “European plug”.
  • 400 V models are three-phase only. The CUT-60s list 12 A input and the contact version ships with a European industrial plug. VEVOR says the machine “is designed to operate with 360V to 440V 3-phase electricity only” and cannot be rewired for 230 V three-phase; for single-phase it says to buy “an additional inverter on your own”. If your workshop has no three-phase socket, skip them.

VEVOR CUT-60 pilot arc: 60 A on 400 V three-phase, 18 mm clean / 24 mm max cut, 12 A input, 9.5 kg (official VEVOR image).

The air compressor you also need

None of these machines has a built-in compressor. VEVOR: “this plasma cutter needs an air compressor for air supply, like all plasma cutters”. Its answers give the target:

  • Pressure: 60 to 90 PSI on the machine’s gauge (about 4.1 to 6.2 bar, our arithmetic), lower for thin plate and higher for thick plate. On the non-HF model VEVOR says 60 to 80 psi (about 4.1 to 5.5 bar).
  • Flow: “The air compressor generally needs to provide 4.5-6 SCFM”, about 127 to 170 litres per minute (our arithmetic). Check the delivered air figure of your compressor, not the intake figure printed large on the box.
  • Dry air: the CUT-50 and CUT-60 contact kits list an air filter regulator. Water in the air line shortens nozzle and electrode life quickly.

Consumables. For the non-HF CUT-65 VEVOR says it uses “PT-31 / AG-60 style consumables: electrodes, nozzles (0.8-1.2 mm), swirl rings, and shield caps”, common types sold by many brands. Asked about spare nozzles for the 50 A pilot arc model, VEVOR answered “The product comes with 5 sets.”

Cutter-welder combos

  • 3-in-1 CT-416 (247,90 €): 50 A plasma cutting plus 200 A TIG and stick (MMA) welding, LED display, 10.8 kg. The listing says “Not Suitable For Welding Aluminum!” It costs 72,00 € more than the standalone CUT-50 contact (our arithmetic), so if you would also use TIG or stick it is cheaper than two machines. A US buyer says it runs fine but “the instructions are not very clear (hard to read)”.
  • 5-in-1 CT-520 (471,90 €): non-touch pilot arc cutting at 50 A, plus synergic gas MIG, flux-core MIG with pulse, TIG and stick at 200 A, a flip LCD screen and VRD, 17.9 kg. It is “compatible with a spool gun (not included)” for aluminium MIG. VEVOR says its TIG has HF non-contact start, but “TIG cannot be used to weld aluminum; only MIG has the capability” on this machine. It costs 224,00 € more than the 3-in-1 (our arithmetic).

Read the listing twice

Some details are confusing or missing. We report what we found so you can check before you buy or ask VEVOR:

  • Same model name, different figures. Both 65 A machines are called CUT-65, but the HF version lists 14 mm clean cut and the non-HF version 16 mm, with the same 20 mm max.
  • Options you cannot buy. On the 65 A page, the “Contact” option shows “See available options” with no price: there was no 65 A contact model to buy when we checked.
  • No duty cycle on any of the eight pages.
  • Short ground lead. A Dutch buyer of the 60 A pilot arc model says it works very well and is easy to use; his only complaint is the short ground (earth) cable (our translation). The CUT-50 contact kit lists a 2 m ground clamp.
  • Reviews are pooled across the six standalone cutters and across the two combos, as described under the table, and 23% of the standalone pool is one-star.

Safety. Plasma arcs give off intense UV light, sparks and fumes. Wear a welding helmet or shade 5 or darker cutting glasses, leather gloves and non-synthetic clothing, cut away from anything flammable, ventilate, and never cut containers that held fuel or chemicals. Disconnect the power before you change nozzles or electrodes.

FAQ

Which VEVOR plasma cutter is cheapest?
The CUT-50 contact model at 175,90 € (50 A, 12 mm clean cut, 230 V). The cheapest non-touch pilot arc model is the CUT-50 pilot arc at 198,90 €. Prices as shown on the EU store on October 29, 2026, delivery set to Ireland.

Do I need an air compressor?
Yes. None of these has a built-in compressor. VEVOR’s answers give 60 to 90 PSI (about 4.1 to 6.2 bar) at the machine and 4.5 to 6 SCFM of air, roughly 127 to 170 litres per minute.

Contact or pilot arc?
Pilot arc starts without touching the metal and cuts rusty, painted and mesh metal more easily; it costs 23,00 € more at 50 A and 43,00 € more at 60 A here. Contact is fine for occasional cuts on clean metal.

Can I run it from a normal socket?
The 230 V models list 26 A (50 A model) and 32 A (65 A model) input current, and VEVOR says a 40 A breaker suffices for the 65 A. On a typical 16 A household circuit you may not get full output; ask an electrician about a dedicated circuit. The 60 A models need 400 V three-phase.

Can I use one on a CNC table?
VEVOR says the non-high-frequency CUT-65 can be used on a CNC plasma table.

What is the duty cycle?
None of the eight product pages lists one. Ask VEVOR or check the manual before you plan long continuous cuts.
