Every price, limit and right below comes from ElevenLabs’ own Music Terms, pricing pages and docs, checked on October 21, 2026. Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes. This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice: the Music Terms are the contract.
Short answer: yes, on any paid ElevenLabs plan you can use Eleven Music tracks commercially online and offline, for YouTube videos, podcasts, ads and social posts, without crediting ElevenLabs. But the plan decides three things people miss: whether you may release songs on Spotify and Apple Music (Creator and up, not Starter), whether you may use the music in film, TV, radio or a big studio game (only the Enterprise Music plan), and whether your company is even allowed on the plan (Free to Pro are “For Individual Use Only”).

Starter vs Creator: the Spotify line
Starter (US$6) is labelled “Commercial, no streaming” on the pricing page, and the Terms list Music Streaming Distribution as Prohibited on Free and Starter. “Streaming distribution” means putting a track on a music streaming platform yourself or through a distributor, aggregator or label. So:
- Background music for your YouTube videos, Reels, podcast or an ad: Starter is enough. No credit to ElevenLabs is needed on paid plans.
- Releasing an AI-made song on Spotify, Apple Music or another streaming service: you need Creator (US$22, US$11 the first month) or higher. You also have to follow that platform’s own rules on labelling AI-generated content; the Terms put that on you.
Film, TV, radio and games: the Enterprise-only uses
Every self-serve plan, Starter through Business, carries the same exception: “All online and offline commercial use permitted, except film, TV, radio, and Studio Games.” Only the Enterprise Music plan (custom pricing) drops that exception. The pricing page tooltip says the same: “Enterprise use cases include distribution over TV, films, radio and video games.”
Indie games are allowed. The Terms define an Indie Game as one that has earned less than US$500,000 since its first commercial release, made by a company whose revenue from all games was under US$1,000,000 in its last financial year (both net of platform fees and refunds). If your game grows past that, you get 60 days to move to a plan that covers Studio Games; copies already distributed before then can keep the music.
Using it for a company: check the employee limit
This is the rule most likely to catch a small business. In the Terms, Free, Starter, Creator and Pro are each marked “For Individual Use Only”. Scale is for individuals or organizations with fewer than 10 employees, Business for fewer than 50, and Enterprise has no restriction. The Terms warn that signing up for a plan you are not eligible for “may result in suspension or termination of your account” or loss of output. So a 5-person agency making music for client ads should look at Scale (US$299), not Pro.
How many minutes of music each plan gives
ElevenLabs publishes several different numbers here, so we list them side by side. The compare table on the pricing page is the one that matches the credit math: Eleven Music costs about 900 credits per minute, and each plan’s monthly credits divided by 900 give exactly the table’s figures (our arithmetic).
Plan: Free
- Credits a month: 10,000
- Music per month (pricing compare table): 11 min (~3-5 tracks)
- Extra minute: US$0.33
- Monthly generation limit (Music Terms): 11 min
- Monthly download limit (Music Terms): Not permitted
Plan: Starter
- Credits a month: 30,000
- Music per month (pricing compare table): 33 min (~8-16 tracks)
- Extra minute: US$0.18
- Monthly generation limit (Music Terms): 17 min
- Monthly download limit (Music Terms): 30 min
Plan: Creator
- Credits a month: 121,000
- Music per month (pricing compare table): 134 min (~34-67 tracks)
- Extra minute: US$0.16
- Monthly generation limit (Music Terms): 62 min
- Monthly download limit (Music Terms): 250 min
Plan: Pro
- Credits a month: 600,000
- Music per month (pricing compare table): 667 min (~167-333 tracks)
- Extra minute: US$0.15
- Monthly generation limit (Music Terms): 304 min
- Monthly download limit (Music Terms): 500 min
Plan: Scale

- Music per month (pricing compare table): 2,000 min (~500-1,000 tracks)
- Extra minute: US$0.15
- Monthly generation limit (Music Terms): 1,100 min
- Monthly download limit (Music Terms): 1,500 min
Plan: Business
- Credits a month: 6,000,000
- Music per month (pricing compare table): 6,667 min (~1,650-3,300 tracks)
- Extra minute: US$0.15
- Monthly generation limit (Music Terms): 4,800 min
- Monthly download limit (Music Terms): 4,000 min

Where ElevenLabs contradicts itself (as of October 21, 2026):
- Minutes: the compare table says 33 minutes on Starter, but the Music Terms cap generation at 17 minutes, the plan cards on the same pricing page say “11 minutes of Music”, and the API pricing page lists 40 minutes. The same pattern repeats on every plan (Creator: 134 vs 62 vs 31 vs 147 minutes). Credits are shared with every other ElevenLabs tool, and each generation can produce more than one variant, which may explain some of the gap. Plan on the lowest figure until your dashboard shows otherwise; ElevenLabs says you can see each generation’s cost before you click Generate by hovering over your credits remaining.
- Free plan: the pricing page says “Personal use only”, while the Terms’ Free column lists commercial use (except film, TV, radio and Studio Games) with attribution required, and also says downloads are “Not permitted”. Without downloads, the Free plan is for trying the model, not for publishing.
- High-quality files: the compare table ticks “Lossless WAV” for Creator, but the Terms say high-quality downloads (lossless WAV or 192 kbps MP3) start on Pro. If you need WAV masters, confirm in your account before relying on Creator.
What no self-serve plan allows
- Prompting with real artists or songs: you must not put any artist’s or songwriter’s name, a song or album title, a publisher or label name, or a recognisable chunk of lyrics into a prompt.
- Building a music library: you may not compile Eleven Music output into a collection that other people can use, license or download (a stock-music site, for example). Releasing your own songs on streaming services, where your plan allows it, is not counted as a library.
- Reselling the model: you may not offer the Music models or their API to third parties.
- Imitating an artist: no output that mimics a real recording artist’s voice in a misleading way.
Who owns the result? The Terms say that, between you and ElevenLabs, “you retain any and all rights in and to your Input and Output”, and that you are responsible for reviewing output before you publish it.
If you upgrade or cancel later
Upgrading is generous: all output already in your account moves under the higher plan’s rights. Downgrading or cancelling is not retroactive either way: each track stays under the plan you were on when you created it. So a song made on Creator keeps its Spotify right even if you later drop to Starter, while a song made on Starter does not gain it unless you upgrade.
How to make a track in Eleven Music
- Open Music in ElevenLabs and describe the song in plain words: genre, mood, instruments, tempo and use, for example “Upbeat corporate jingle with bright synthesizers, punchy drums, and an optimistic melody”.
- Optional on paid plans: add an Audio Reference (a clip of up to about 30 seconds, screened for copyright) to steer the sound, or pick a curated or custom Finetune.
- Choose the number of Variants and the Duration (a fixed length or Auto). Tracks can run from 3 seconds to 5 minutes. More variants and longer tracks cost more credits.
- Edit in the editor: change lyrics, add or remove sections, set styles per section, or type instructions such as “Make the chorus more energetic”. Use brackets like [energetic guitar solo] for instrumental parts.
- Click Generate to apply your edits (nothing changes until you do), then Download. Files come as MP3 (44.1 kHz, 128-192 kbps) or WAV.

Paying yearly works out to two months free: about US$5 a month for Starter, US$18.33 for Creator and US$82.50 for Pro.
Developers: the Music API is for paid plans (not Free). The API pricing page lists music at US$0.15 per minute, “5 minute duration limit” and “Commercial use licensing on Starter+ plans”; in code you can pick the newest model with model_id="music_v2_5".
Not the same thing: ElevenMusic is a separate mobile app with its own plans (free: 5 tracks a day; Pro: 400 tracks a month). This guide covers Eleven Music inside your ElevenLabs account.

FAQ
Is ElevenLabs music royalty-free?
On paid plans you can use your tracks commercially without paying per use and without crediting ElevenLabs, within your plan’s limits: no film, TV, radio or Studio Games below Enterprise Music, and no streaming release on Starter.
Can I use Eleven Music on YouTube and monetize the video?
Yes on Starter and above, as online commercial use. On Free, downloads are not permitted, and the pricing page calls it personal use only.
Can I upload Eleven Music songs to Spotify?
Only from Creator (US$22 a month) upward. Free and Starter prohibit streaming distribution. Follow the platform’s AI-labelling rules too.
Do I have to credit ElevenLabs?
Not on paid plans. The Free plan requires attribution, in a form like “Created in collaboration with ElevenLabs”.
Can my company use the Pro plan?
The Terms mark Free to Pro as individual use only. Organizations with fewer than 10 employees fit Scale, fewer than 50 fit Business, and larger ones need Enterprise.
Can I use it in a movie or TV ad?
Film, TV and radio are excluded on every self-serve plan; that needs the Enterprise Music plan.
How long can a track be?
From 3 seconds to 5 minutes per generation.
Can I type “in the style of” a famous artist?
No. Artist and songwriter names, song and album titles, label and publisher names, and recognisable lyrics are prohibited in prompts.
