ElevenLabs Pricing (October 2026): Free vs Starter vs Creator vs Pro, and How Far the Credits Go

Affiliate disclosure: this post contains an affiliate link to ElevenLabs (via PartnerStack). We have not run a long-term test of every plan ourselves.

ElevenLabs is an AI audio platform: text to speech, voice cloning, speech to text, dubbing, sound effects, music and a long-form editor called Studio. Its pricing looks simple (six self-serve plans from free to US$990 a month), but what you actually get depends on credits, because every tool draws from one shared monthly credit pool. This guide lays out each plan, then converts the credits into minutes and generations so you can see which plan fits what you make.

First-month offers on the page today: Creator showed “First month 50% off” (US$11 for the first month). Starter showed “First month 83% off”: US$1 for the first month, then the regular US$6 per month from month two. This is a limited-time offer with no end date published (still shown when we checked on November 2, 2026). It is a monthly subscription that renews until you cancel; if you cancel, Starter stays active until the end of the billing cycle, then the account drops to Free and unused paid credits expire (checked October 23, 2026). How far do the credits go?

ElevenLabs’ FAQ gives these approximate credit costs, and all of them come out of the same monthly pool, so minutes spent on dubbing are minutes you can’t spend on voiceovers. For Text to Speech, the V2 Multilingual models cost 1 credit per character; the Flash/Turbo models are discounted for API use, at 0.5 to 1 credit per character.

The figures below are our own arithmetic (monthly credits divided by ElevenLabs’ listed cost, rounded down), assuming you spend the whole pool on one tool (the Free plan’s 10k credits would be a third of Starter’s figures, where the tool is included):

Tool: Text to Speech

  • Credit cost (ElevenLabs FAQ): 1 credit per character
  • Starter (30k): 30,000 characters
  • Creator (121k): 121,000 characters
  • Pro (600k): 600,000 characters

Tool: Speech to Text

  • Credit cost (ElevenLabs FAQ): 330 credits per minute
  • Starter (30k): 90 min
  • Creator (121k): 366 min
  • Pro (600k): 1,818 min

Tool: Eleven Music

  • Credit cost (ElevenLabs FAQ): 900 credits per minute
  • Starter (30k): 33 min
  • Creator (121k): 134 min
  • Pro (600k): 666 min

Tool: Sound Effects

  • Credit cost (ElevenLabs FAQ): 200 credits per generation
  • Starter (30k): 150 generations
  • Creator (121k): 605 generations
  • Pro (600k): 3,000 generations

Tool: Voice Changer / Voice Isolator

  • Credit cost (ElevenLabs FAQ): 1,000 credits per minute
  • Starter (30k): 30 min
  • Creator (121k): 121 min
  • Pro (600k): 600 min

Tool: Automatic dubbing (with watermark)

  • Credit cost (ElevenLabs FAQ): 2,000 credits per minute
  • Starter (30k): 15 min
  • Creator (121k): 60 min
  • Pro (600k): 300 min

Tool: Automatic dubbing (no watermark)

  • Credit cost (ElevenLabs FAQ): 3,000 credits per minute
  • Starter (30k): 10 min
  • Creator (121k): 40 min
  • Pro (600k): 200 min

A rough rule of thumb for voiceovers: spoken English runs at roughly 900-1,000 characters per minute, so 30,000 characters is in the region of half an hour of narration on the Multilingual model. That is an estimate, not an ElevenLabs figure; the exact minutes depend on your script and the voice speed.

Rollover, upgrades and cancelling

  • Rollover: on a paid plan, unused credits roll over for up to two months, so your balance can reach at most 3× your monthly quota, as long as you keep the subscription and don’t downgrade or cancel. Rollover doesn’t apply to the Free plan.
  • Top-ups: pay-as-you-go top-up credits are separate and not subject to the rollover cap.
  • Upgrading: unused credits from your previous plan roll over into the next billing cycle.
  • Downgrading or cancelling: the plan stays active until the end of the billing cycle, then the account drops to Free and unused paid credits expire.
  • Regenerations: credits are charged per generation request, not per download. A limited number of free regenerations may be available if the content and certain settings don’t change; ElevenLabs shows whether a regeneration is free before you generate.
  • Payment: credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, billed monthly or yearly from the day you subscribe. Prices exclude taxes, levies and duties.

Which ElevenLabs plan should you pick?

  • Just trying the voices: Free. You get 10k credits a month and the core tools, but the commercial license is listed from Starter up, so don’t use Free output in client or monetised work.
  • Occasional voiceovers, a podcast intro, short social videos: Starter (US$6 a month, or US$5 a month billed annually). It adds the commercial license, Instant Voice Cloning and Dubbing Studio, with 30k credits.
  • Weekly YouTube videos, audiobooks or a voice that sounds exactly like you: Creator (US$22 a month). Four times Starter’s credits (121k) plus Professional Voice Cloning.
  • Apps and products built on the API, or daily long-form production: Pro (US$99 a month). 600k credits and 44.1 kHz PCM output via the API.
  • Teams: Scale (3 seats, 1.8M credits) or Business (10 seats, 6M credits). Beyond that, Enterprise.

Save money: if you know you’ll keep it for a year, annual billing costs the same as 10 months. If you’re unsure, start monthly; credits roll over for two months, so a quiet month isn’t wasted. Building a startup on voice agents? ElevenLabs runs a Startup Grants Program listed as “12 months free” with 33M characters, valid for 12 months.

Start with ElevenLabs (free plan available)

Making videos too? See our guides to Filmora plans and DemoCreator plans for the editing side.

Want the voices to sound like you? Our step-by-step guide covers how to clone your voice with ElevenLabs, including which plan you need for Instant vs Professional Voice Cloning and how much audio to record.

Want your videos in other languages? Dubbing draws from the same credit pool (about 3,000 credits per minute without watermark). See our ElevenLabs Dubbing guide for the steps, limits and roughly how many minutes each plan covers.

Turning a book into an audiobook? On Multilingual v2 narration costs 1 credit per character, so a full novel needs a big plan. See our ElevenLabs audiobook guide for the steps, roughly how much of a book each plan covers, and publishing to Spotify and ElevenReader.

Want a voice assistant on your website? ElevenAgents, ElevenLabs’ platform for AI voice agents, is billed by call minutes rather than credits (15 free minutes a month, then plan minutes plus the language model). See our guide to adding an ElevenLabs voice agent to your website for the steps, the WordPress embed and the costs.

Want to put a book on ElevenReader without burning Studio credits? Our ElevenReader Publishing guide covers the free self-publishing path, direct-sale shares and Ultra listening rates.

Need a transcript or subtitles instead of a voiceover? Speech to Text (Scribe v2) uses about 330 credits per minute in the app, or US$0.22 per hour of audio through the API. See our ElevenLabs Speech to Text guide for the steps, SRT/VTT export, hours included per plan and the limits.

Making music with your credits? Eleven Music’s rights depend on the plan: Starter allows commercial use but not Spotify or Apple Music releases, Creator and up allow streaming release, and Free to Pro are for individual use only. See Can you use ElevenLabs Music commercially?

Generating sound effects? A Sound Effects generation uses about 200 credits with duration on Auto, or 40 credits per second if you set the length yourself, and commercial use needs a paid plan. See ElevenLabs Sound Effects pricing for generations per plan, WAV downloads and looping.

Re-voicing your own recordings? Voice Changer is billed purely by duration, 1,000 credits per minute, so Starter covers 30 minutes and Pro 600, with a 5-minute limit per conversion. Commercial use and converting into your own cloned voice start at Starter. See ElevenLabs Voice Changer pricing for minutes per plan, WAV and the API.

Need a voice that does not exist yet? Voice Design creates one from a text description on every plan, Free included: each generation gives three options and you pay only for the preview-text characters. Saving a voice uses one of your custom voice slots (3 on Free, 10 on Starter, 30 on Creator, 160 on Pro), and commercial use starts at Starter. See ElevenLabs Voice Design pricing for slots per plan, prompt tips and the API.

Background noise in your recording? Voice Isolator strips noise, music and chatter from audio or video on every plan, Free included, at 1,000 credits per minute: 10 minutes a month on Free (personal use only), 30 on Starter, 121 on Creator, 600 on Pro, with files up to 1 hour and 500 MB. The API bills it at US$0.12 per minute. See ElevenLabs Voice Isolator pricing for minutes per plan, file limits and the API.

Want images or video, not just audio? Image & Video generates images on every plan (Free: up to 40 a month, 3 requests a day, personal use with attribution) and video from Starter (up to 211 seconds a month on the cheapest model). Watermark-free export and all models start at Creator, 4K and the API at Pro, and costs range from 250 to 2,650 credits per image and 234 to 5,000 credits per second of video. See ElevenLabs Image & Video pricing for images and seconds per plan, the watermark and 4K catches, and the API.

Want a human to do it for you? ElevenLabs Productions sells human-edited transcripts from US$2 a minute, captions from US$2.2, translated subtitles from US$7, dubs from US$22 a minute and audiobooks from US$200 an hour. Self-serve orders are paid at checkout, not from your credits, and enterprise customers get up to 25% off. See ElevenLabs Productions pricing for what each service includes, turnaround times and how it compares with doing it yourself.

Making audiobooks, podcasts or narrated videos? Studio is included in every plan, but the project limit (5 on Free up to 20,000), watermark-free video (Creator and up) and 192 kbps MP3 or WAV exports (Pro and up) depend on your plan. See ElevenLabs Studio pricing for what each plan gets and how many minutes of narration fit.

Building with the API? API usage is billed in US dollars per character, not in credits: US$0.08 per 1,000 characters on Eleven v4, v3 and Multilingual v2, and US$0.04 on v4 Turbo and Flash, at the same rate on every plan. See ElevenLabs API pricing for what each plan includes, concurrency and pay-as-you-go top-ups.
