VEVOR Water Distiller Buying Guide (2026): Glass vs Plastic Jug, 1 L/h vs 1.5 L/h, 4 L vs 6 L, Euro Prices

Affiliate disclosure: this post contains affiliate links to VEVOR’s European store (via Awin). If you buy through them, SiftGuide may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Every price and spec below comes from VEVOR’s own product pages, product Q&A answers signed “By vevor” and store policies, checked on October 25, 2026. We have not tested these distillers; specs are as listed by the seller. Figures marked “our arithmetic” are our own calculations.

EU store, ships in Europe. All links go to eur.vevor.com, VEVOR’s European store. Prices are in euros, exactly as the store showed them (“VAT included”), with the store’s default delivery country (Ireland) selected. They can change with your delivery country and with VEVOR’s sales, so the checkout price is the one that counts. The product pages said “FREE Shipping”; the shipping policy says “All products are currently free shipping, except in some remote areas.” and lists regions it does not deliver to. These are 220 V machines for European sockets; if you live outside Europe, use VEVOR’s store for your country.

A countertop water distiller is a small steel kettle with a fan-cooled lid: it boils tap water, the steam condenses in the lid, and the water drips into a jug through a small activated-carbon pack. VEVOR lists uses such as coffee, “humidifier water, CPAP machines, aquariums”. VEVOR sells several versions that all look alike, with 4 L or 6 L boilers. We compared the eight that were in stock on the EU store on October 25, 2026, from 65,90 € to 135,90 €. The real differences are the jug you collect into (plastic or glass), the control panel, and speed, and two listings contradict themselves on exactly those points.

All are 4 L boilers with 304 stainless steel inside, except the 6 L. Power is 750 W except the 1750 W fast model and the 900 W 6 L. Weights are as each spec list gives them (machine only on the YMK40208/40207/40230 pages). VEVOR shows one shared star rating across several of these listings, so we left ratings out. The same YMK40208 costs 4,00 € more in silver than in wine red (our arithmetic); the spec lists are otherwise the same.

The catch: is the jug plastic or glass?

Distilled water sits in the collection jug for hours, so the jug material matters, and the cheaper listings use plastic. The two basic YMK40101 listings say “Container Material: Plastic” (white, with a “BPA-Free plastic container”) and “PBT Plastic Barrel” (black). The glass versions cost more: 23,00 € more for the steel YMK40202 with glass over the black YMK40101, and 21,00 € more for the wine-red YMK40208 with glass over the white one (our arithmetic).

The white YMK40208 listing contradicts itself. Its spec list says “Carafe Material Food-Grade Plastic” and its description heading says “Plastic Container”, but further down the same page has a section titled “Gallon Glass Carafe for Safe Storage”. A buyer review on that listing says: “It says ‘with glass container,’ but mine came with a plastic container instead”. If you want glass, buy a listing whose spec list says “Borosilicate Glass” (the wine-red or silver YMK40208, the YMK40207, the YMK40230, or the YMK40202 and 6 L, which say “High Borosilicate Glass”) and check the spec list again before you pay.

Speed, daily output and electricity

Most of these make about 1 litre an hour. The 1750 W YMK40230 lists “up to 1.5 L (0.4 Gal) per hour and about 36 L (9.5 Gal) per day”. The daily figures are 24-hour non-stop numbers: a 4 L boiler at 1 L/h needs a refill about every 4 hours, so 24 L a day means six batches (our arithmetic). For the YMK40208, VEVOR suggests setting “3.5 hours when distilling 4 L (1.1 Gal) water”, so some water stays at the bottom and limescale is reduced.

Model: YMK40101 white

  • Rated power: 750 W
  • Speed (VEVOR): 1.3 L/h
  • One full batch (our arithmetic): about 3.1 h
  • kWh per litre, rough (our arithmetic): 0.58

Model: YMK40101 black, YMK40202, YMK40208

  • Rated power: 750 W
  • Speed (VEVOR): 1 L/h
  • One full batch (our arithmetic): about 4 h
  • kWh per litre, rough (our arithmetic): 0.75

Model: YMK40207

  • Rated power: 750 W
  • Speed (VEVOR): 1 L/h
  • One full batch (our arithmetic): about 3.9 h (3.9 L jug)
  • kWh per litre, rough (our arithmetic): 0.75

Model: YMK40230

  • Rated power: 1750 W
  • Speed (VEVOR): 1.5 L/h
  • One full batch (our arithmetic): about 2.7 h
  • kWh per litre, rough (our arithmetic): 1.17

Model: YMK60208 (6 L)

  • Rated power: 900 W
  • Speed (VEVOR): 1.3 L/h
  • One full batch (our arithmetic): about 4.6 h
  • kWh per litre, rough (our arithmetic): 0.69

The kWh column is rated power divided by rated speed. VEVOR does not publish a measured energy figure, so read it as a rough guide, not a test result. By that rough measure the fast model costs more electricity per litre, and you pay 6,00 € more than the YMK40207 for the speed (our arithmetic).

Two listings give different speeds for the same model. The white YMK40101 spec list says “1.3 L/H”, and its text gives both “6 gal/22.7 L per day” and “8.24 gal/31.2 L per day”. The black YMK40101 says “exceeding 0.26GAL/1L per hour” and “6.3 GAL/24L each day”. Plan on about 1 L an hour. On the YMK40202 page, VEVOR also answered a power question with “Ez a termék 220 V, teljesítménye 1750 W.” (Hungarian: “this product is 220 V, its power is 1750 W”), while its spec list says 750W. We go with the spec list.

The timer is not a delayed start. The YMK40208, YMK40207 and YMK40230 have a “0-99 H timing range”. On the YMK40230 page, asked whether the machine could switch itself on at night when electricity is cheaper, VEVOR answered on July 16, 2026: “No, this machine does not have a timer or scheduling function to turn on automatically at a certain time during the night.”

Basic models still switch off. The white YMK40101 starts by “simply pressing a button”, and the YMK40202 page describes “pressing the start button”; a buyer noted the YMK40202 has no electronic display. Asked whether it switches off by itself, VEVOR answered (in Romanian) “Mașina se va opri automat după finalizarea operațiunii.” (“The machine will stop automatically after the operation is complete.”). The white YMK40101 lists a cut-off “When the heating temperature exceeds 239℉/115℃”. The YMK40208 “will stop heating when the temperature exceeds 115℃ (239℉), and shut down automatically when it is over 150℃ (302℉)”.

What the carbon pack does, and how often to change it

Every listing comes with carbon packs (three on most). Asked whether they are needed just to remove calcium, VEVOR answered: “Hello, the carbon package in the steel mouth of the machine only improves the taste and has no other effect.” The distilling does the cleaning; the carbon pack is for taste. The listings disagree on how often to change it: the white YMK40101 says “we kindly recommend that you change the filter carbon pack once a week”, while on the 6 L page VEVOR says “If the machine is used once or twice a day, we recommend replacing them about every month.”

VEVOR does not sell spare packs: “Hello, we regret to inform you that our website currently does not sell carbon packages individually.” Elsewhere VEVOR answered: “You can search for coconut shell activated carbon on Amazon to purchase carbon packs.” The cleaning powder is not sold separately either: “Sorry, we don’t sell cleaning powders individually, the products are sold as a complete set.” Budget for third-party refills.

On purity, VEVOR’s answers are short and not lab results: “The distilled water of this product is pure and does not contain any other substances.” and, on microbes, “The product can filter out some microorganisms.” We have not tested the output. If you plan to drink distilled water every day, or use it for medical equipment, follow your doctor’s or the device maker’s advice.

Who each VEVOR water distiller is for

VEVOR 4 L distiller YMK40202, steel body, glass jug (official VEVOR image).

VEVOR 4 L steel with glass jug (YMK40202): 91,90 €

For: the simplest glass-jug distiller here: 304 steel shell and liner, “High Borosilicate Glass” jug, start button, 4.6 kg. Skip if: you want to see the temperature or set a timer; the wine-red YMK40208 has both for 10,00 € more (our arithmetic).

VEVOR 4 L timer + temp display, white (YMK40208): 80,90 €

For: a temperature display (30-108 ℃) and 0-99 h timer at the lowest price, if you are fine with plastic: the spec list says “Food-Grade Plastic” carafe. Skip if: you want glass, because this page contradicts itself on the jug (see the warning above).

VEVOR 4 L timer + temp display, wine red (YMK40208): 101,90 €

For: the same machine as the white one, with a “Borosilicate Glass” carafe: 750 W, 1 L/h, Φ23.6 x 38.5 cm, 3.3 kg. The silver version has the same spec list at 105,90 €. Skip if: you want to see the actual temperature while it runs; this panel shows the setting.

VEVOR 4 L dual display, silver (YMK40207): 108,90 €

For: people who want to watch the process: it shows “both the setting temp and actual temp” and has a ℉/℃ switch. It also has the 0-99 h timer and a 3.9 L borosilicate glass carafe, for 7,00 € more than the wine-red YMK40208 (our arithmetic). Skip if: you need more than about a litre an hour.

VEVOR 4 L fast distiller YMK40230, 1750 W, 1.5 L/h (official VEVOR image).

VEVOR 4 L fast, 1750 W (YMK40230): 114,90 €

For: households that go through several litres a day: 1.5 L/h, dual temperature display, timer, glass carafe, 3.6 kg, Φ23.6 x 40.2 cm. A full 4 L batch takes about 2.7 hours instead of about 4 (our arithmetic). Skip if: your circuit is already busy: 1750 W is kettle territory, and by our rough sum it uses more electricity per litre than the 750 W models.

VEVOR 6 L distiller YMK60208 (official VEVOR image).

VEVOR 6 L large (YMK60208): 135,90 €

For: fewer refills: a 6.0 L boiler (“The inner diameter of the pot is 213.5 mm.”), 900 W, 1.3 L/h, glass jug, steel shell, 6.6 kg, 300 x 300 x 500 mm. It costs 44,00 € more than the 4 L YMK40202 (our arithmetic). Skip if: it has to fit under a wall cabinet: at 500 mm it is the tallest here. We did not find a user manual link on this page when we checked; the 4 L listings had one.

Shipping, returns and warranty

FAQ

Which VEVOR water distiller is cheapest?
Of the eight we checked, the white 4 L YMK40101 at 65,90 € on the EU store (October 25, 2026, delivery set to Ireland). It has a plastic container.

Which VEVOR distillers have a glass jug?
By their spec lists: the YMK40202, the wine-red and silver YMK40208, the YMK40207, the YMK40230 and the 6 L YMK60208. The white YMK40208 and both YMK40101 listings use plastic.

How long does a 4 L batch take?
About 4 hours at the 1 L/h most of these list, about 2.7 hours on the 1.5 L/h YMK40230 (our arithmetic). VEVOR suggests a 3.5-hour timer for 4 L on the YMK40208, leaving some water in the bottom.

Do I need the carbon packs?
VEVOR says the carbon pack “only improves the taste and has no other effect.” VEVOR does not sell spare packs; it suggests buying coconut shell activated carbon elsewhere.

Can I set it to start at night?
No. VEVOR: “this machine does not have a timer or scheduling function to turn on automatically at a certain time during the night.” The 0-99 h timer sets how long it runs.

Does VEVOR ship these outside Europe?
The links here go to eur.vevor.com, the European store, which prices in euros and ships within Europe (with some non-delivery areas). These are 220 V models. Outside Europe, use VEVOR’s store for your country.
